COM wins in BIFFF (2)

Since COM’s win at BIFFF is ignored in Korea (at least we didn’t see any news reports on this), we’ll stick it in their faces again.  How many Korean films have won at international film festivals?  We’d like to know.
Yes, Jung Byung Gil is a first-time director (of a commercial film).  Good for him!  Yes, one of the two leads – Park Si Hoo – is a first-time movie actor.  Fantastic achievement!  But Jung Jae Young is a much-respected veteran of the Korean movie industry.  Doesn’t he deserve any mention?
BIFFF may not be Cannes or Venice or Berlin, but it is still a reputable international film festival and a film has to be really good to win.  COM edged out Kim Ki Duk’s “Pieta”, remember?  If you don’t realize what a big deal this is, here’s some info from Wikipedia:
“Pieta” made its world premiere in the competition line-up of the 69th Venice International Film Festival where it won the Golden Lion.  It is the first Korean film to win the top prize at one of the three major international film festivals — Venice, Cannes, and Berlin.

Here are more info on BIFFF:
Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF), marking its 31st edition at 2013, is one of world’s top 3 fantastic film festivals, along with the Sitges Film Festival of Spain and Fantasporto of Portugal.  The festival was held at the ‘Palais des Beaux Arts’ in Brussels from April 2 – 13, 2013.
CONGRATULATIONS to “Confession of Murder”, its director Jung Byung Gil, its stellar cast of Jung Jae Young, Park Si Hoo, and others, and all its production staff for this wonderful win!
