This diary entry is an indictment of Seoul’s Western (Seobu = Western) Police Station (WPS). It is not laced with expletives only because I’m a lady and I never swear, but here goes @#$%^&*+~()?! I have been restraining myself because the case is ongoing and I believe the police should be allowed to do their job. But now I am convinced they are all idiots, morons, imbeciles, retards, and worse, demons and monsters!

WPS Chief said he assigned 3 crack teams to the case. Presumably they’ve been working round-the-clock on this high-profile case. (Pity the other low-profile cases.) What have they come up with? Nothing! The longer it drags on, the less worried I am (just frustrated and exasperated!) I remember my husband’s first reaction was: “If the police had enough evidence, they would have arrested PSH on Day 1.” It’s now nearly 7 weeks and WPS is still dragging its feet.

Two weeks ago they said they would wrap up the case at the end of March and pass all the evidence to the prosecutor’s office (who will decide whether there are grounds for prosecution.) On March 29 they announced there would be a one-week delay and it would be first week of April before they could pass the case to the prosecutors. They blamed it on PSH’s lawyers — that they submitted new briefs on March 22 which WPS had to take time to review.

WPS should thank PSH’s lawyers for doing their detective work for them — digging up the Kakao Talk and submitting B’s affidavit. What evidence did the police come up with? What evidence do they need to conclude the case? It’s very simple and straightforward — a woman of dubious character and background claims to have been raped (twice) by a famous man of unblemished reputation while she was drunk. She slept for 12 hours at his place and left on amicable terms, having exchanged cell phone numbers with him. And then after she got home, she proceeded to exchange text messages with the man who introduced them, the man whom she would later, almost as an afterthought, accuse of sexual molestation, even planning to go clubbing that evening. More Kakao Talk with her girlfriend which was when she realized this was her golden opportunity to grab a sizable chunk from the hunk who was worth 30 billion won.

If I were the fly on the wall, I’m sure I would have witnessed an Oscar-winning performance from this “aspiring actress” when she went to WPS to report being raped. Her doll-like face, her voluptuous figure, her tears, her distress … would have betwitched those policemen. Did she arouse their protective instincts? or did she make them jealous of PSH for “enjoying” her twice? In any case, WPS immediately realized this was their perfect opportunity for making headline news. What they did not reckon on was they not only made the national news but also international.

Which was when they found they could not handle the glare of the limelight. They thought they would stimulate public interest by leaking juicy info every now and then, like maybe the girl was drugged (but tests turned out to be negative), and how about a polygraph (photo op for everybody), further leaks about PSH’s answers all FALSE …. And before that they said they did not have PSH’s address so they sent the first notice to appear at WPS for questioning to his ex-management company. Anybody who has an ID card or driver’s license has his/her address on file with the authorities. They didn’t have PSH’s phone number? But the girl had it! Or didn’t she show it to them when they instructed her how to trap K on Kakao Talk when she was giving her statement at WPS? The more antics they tried, the dumber they showed themselves. They have become the universal laughing stock. Do they not realize how ridiculous they look? And how ridiculous they make South Korea look? The whole world is watching them. This is a national shame ( 國恥) !

Consider a case of rape which happened in China at about the same time as the PSH case. 5 young men (4 of them teenagers) gang-raped a 17-year-old girl. They were immediately arrested. The father of one of the young men had some influence but could not get his son off by offering the girl money and an apartment (so reported on the internet). Even though the girl was ready to retract her accusation, the police said a criminal case could not be settled. The men have been in custody ever since and the case would soon go to trial (although not open trial because they are underaged, except for one.)

I challenge WPS to arrest PSH if they have enough evidence that he raped that “mottled green snake”. They wouldn’t dare, would they? Instead, they kept making statements like “PSH would soon be remanded to the prosecutors” and “We are considering applying for an arrest warrant at the same time.” Do they understand the legal term “remand” at all? It is used (of a court) “to send back (a prisoner or accused person) to custody, as to await further proceedings.” PSH has never been in custody, so how could he be “remanded”? Throwing around such legal terms indiscriminately shows their ignorance and pig-headedness (Apologies to pigs^^) “Arrest warrant”? They waited 2 months to arrest a rapist? All women in Korea should fear for their lives!

I had thought WPS would have finished playing by the time PSH’s birthday comes around on April 3, but no, they are determined not to let him have a peaceful birthday. They want to keep dangling him in the air, to let him twist in the wind, to torture him to their hearts’ content. What they are doing, have been doing, is sadistic! They are not policemen; they are a bunch of perverts! If I were a Korean, I would be afraid, very afraid, to have such men in the police force whose job is supposed to protect the citizens. They are so inefficient, inept, incompetent, irresponsible, immoral, and downright thick-headed!

This is beyond stupidity. In other civilized countries in the world, this is called OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE! Looks like WPS is determined to nail PSH.
